The state's premier conference for big data and advanced computing is coming to campus, with more than 200 visitors from industry, government, and academia expected to attend.

“It was a pleasure to see everyone so excited and engaged with the day’s activities, which certainly bolstered our employees’ already strong sense of belonging and Pioneer Pride,” says VP of Human Resources Allison Boucher-Jarvis.

Williams is recognized in the playwriting/screenwriting category for his original script, The Twelve, which blends spiritual realism and Afrofuturism to interrogate the legacy of slavery while honoring West African traditions.

There are students who reach their last year or last semester at WP and find that they simply can’t afford those last few courses. This campus event, taking place on the first Sunday in May every year, directly supports a fund that helps students complete the "last mile" to their degree.

A double major in early childhood education and liberal studies, Merrill hopes to become a kindergarten teacher after WP.

“Our students who are veterans, active military, and dependents of veterans bring a unique and important perspective to our campus, and we are proud to help them achieve their goal of a college education,” says Miki Cammarata, vice president for student development.

In advance of the trip, students had to research the psychology of travel and also read about the culture and history of Puerto Rico to build a group plan for the trip, which also included civic service opportunities. 

The University also inducted its 12th class Chi Alpha Sigma, the national intercollegiate student-athlete honor society for juniors and seniors who have a minimum 3.5 grade point average.
